Maisy wearing safe and appropriate horse riding wear

What to wear horse riding at Normany Park Riding School?

It is a good idea to bring a waterproof coat, as lessons continue regardless of the weather.

If you have not ridden before, full length comfortable trousers, leggings or loose fitting jeans, boots or shoes with a small heel or wellies (no trainers which can slip through stirrups).

Shoulders should be covered.

Riding hats can be borrowed to start with.

However, after your first few lessons, it is a good idea to purchase your own hat which should be to current standards:

Riding Hat Standards which are recommended are:

  • PAS 015:2011
  • VG1 01.040 2014-12 – This standard must also have either a BSI Kitemark or a Inspec IC Mark
  • ASTM F1163 2004a or 04a onwards – This standard must also have a SEI mark
  • SNELL E2016
  • AS/NZS 3838 2006 onwards – This standard must also have a SAI Global Mark

It is also advisable to purchase proper riding boots and a body protector for jumping.

All clients must wear a riding hat approved to current BHS Standard whenever participating in riding activities or leading horses.

All clients are asked to wear suitable footwear and to wear gloves.

All clients must wear a body protector for jumping lessons and cross country to a minimum of 2009 standards.

Please Note
